A postcard does two jobs a flyer cannot: it survives the post without an envelope, and it gets stuck on a fridge. If you want to be in someone’s kitchen for a month, this is the format.
Size decides your postage
4×6 qualifies for the standard USPS postcard rate.
5×7 and 6×9 do not. They post as letters or flats, which costs more per piece than the printing difference. If you are mailing in any volume, that gap dwarfs the extra on the print.
Choose 5×7 or 6×9 when the card is being handed over rather than posted, and you want the extra room or the extra presence.
