Foil is not ink that looks metallic. It is a thin layer of real metal film pressed onto the card, so it reflects light the way jewelry does. Nothing else in print gets that reaction when someone turns the card in their hand.
Setting up the foil
Send your full color artwork plus a black and white foil file where black marks every spot that gets foil. Solid shapes and bold type foil best; keep fine lines at least 1 pt thick.
Matte or soft touch
Matte lamination keeps the foil crisp against a quiet background. Soft touch adds a velvety feel that people notice before they read anything.
