Check your panels first. This matters
Magnets need steel. Plenty of modern vehicles have aluminum doors, fiberglass box bodies or plastic panels, and a magnet simply will not hold on any of them. Take a fridge magnet out to the vehicle and try it on the exact panel you intend to use. Thirty seconds now saves an order that cannot work.
The panel also needs to be flat. Body lines, deep curves and swage lines lift the edges, wind gets underneath, and you lose the magnet on the highway.
Take them off every week
This is the part people skip and then regret. Moisture and grit get trapped between the magnet and the paint. Left on for months, that traps water against the panel and the paint underneath ages differently from the paint around it. You get a visible rectangle. Pull them off weekly, wipe both surfaces, let them dry, put them back. Do that and they will last years.
