Perforated film is the trick behind every storefront that is fully branded on the outside but still bright inside. Half the material is tiny holes: from the street your eye reads the printed image, from inside your eye reads through the holes to the daylight.
What it actually looks like
From outside, a clean printed graphic. From inside, a slightly darkened view with a fine texture. Like looking through a screen door. It is not glass-clear, and anyone expecting invisible film will notice. What it is not is dark: the room keeps its daylight, which is the whole reason to use it instead of solid vinyl.
Three years outside, six months to remove cleanly
These are two different numbers and both matter. Laminated film will look good on a window for around three years. But the adhesive is designed for clean removal within about six months. Leave it up for two years in full sun and it will fight you coming off and may leave residue. If it is going up for a season, perfect. If it is a permanent installation, budget for a professional removal later.
Glass it will not stick to
It needs smooth flat glass. Textured, frosted, patterned or deeply curved glass does not give the adhesive enough contact and the film lifts at the edges. Do not use it where the glass gets pressure washed. A jet will get behind the perforations and peel it.
