A decal is just printed adhesive vinyl cut to the exact outline of your artwork. No background, no visible rectangle. The shape of your logo is the shape of the sticker. It arrives on a backing sheet with clear transfer tape over the face so the pieces stay in position while you apply them.
How to apply one
Clean the surface, then clean it again. Glass cleaner, then a lint-free cloth, then let it dry fully.
Tape the decal in position and check it with your eye from a distance. It is never straight the first time.
Peel the backing away from behind, not the transfer tape from the front.
Squeegee from the middle outwards in overlapping strokes.
Peel the transfer tape back slowly at a sharp angle. If any vinyl lifts with it, lay it back and squeegee again.
Surfaces that will not work
Adhesive vinyl needs a smooth sealed surface. Brick, render, raw timber and textured powder coat give the adhesive almost nothing to grip and the decal peels within weeks. If the surface has a texture you can feel with a fingertip, it is not a decal job.
